I keep meeting people who carry a quiet, low-grade anxiety about their spending. Smart, capable people who make good money and still get to the end of the month wondering where it all went.
I know the feeling, because for years I did the thing most of them have done...the end-of-month scroll through the bank app, trying to reconstruct the crime after it had already been committed.
That's what made me want to make this one. Because the post mortem never actually fixed anything for me. And I don't think it ever will for anyone.
The whole idea is just this: if you want to know where your money goes, you have to decide where it goes before you spend it. Looking back can only describe what happened. It can't change it.
So instead of asking “where did my money go,” I've learned to ask it a little earlier. “Where do I want it to go?” Give every dollar a job before it ever leaves the account.
Anyway. That's the gist. Here's full video if you want it.
