I don’t know what I was expecting, but it was not this.

An extra star for the multiple surprise turns toward the end. I spent much of the time marveling at how good films shot on, you know film, can look compared with some of the atrocious digital color grading that goes on these days (I’m looking at you, Wicked). The black blacks. The vivid colors. The grainy grain.

I first tried to watch this movie several years ago and couldn’t make it past the opening sequence. This time it kept me engaged and enjoying for all but a bit in the mid-second half.
